For Senator Panfilo Lacson, the verd!ct on Janet Lim-Napoles was not that successful. It will be recalled that Napoles has already been c0ndemn by the court due to 10-billion pork barrel sca*m.
Napoles is said to be the mastermind of the said issue.
According to Lacson, c0rruption is w0rse today than in Napoles' era.
“In fact, it has gotten w0rse. During the time of Napoles, P500 million in kickbacks was already considered huge. Now, transactions are going by the billions. Have we solved the problem of ensuring public funds are used properly instead of going to the pockets of c0rrupt people? Can we be sure projects are free of brib3ry and other forms of c0rruption? These are questions that we must ask ourselves, and we can easily verify the answers—it takes two to tango. Many cases remain pending—before the Ombudsman, the Sandiganbayan, and even up to the Supreme Court. We have not really seen the totality of this problem,” said Lacson.
In the recent days, Lacson has been in the news lately because of his criticisms to the Duterte Administration's proposed vaccination program.
“If it’s true that government is now dropping the price of Sinovac vaccine from P1,847.25 per dose to only P650, the Senate has probably done our share to save our people billions of pesos in the country’s vaccination program. Netizens can pat themselves on the back,” added Lacson.
It will be recalled that in a statement, President Rodrigo Duterte slammed the critics of the government's vaccination program. But President Duterte did not mention Lacson's name.
“Again to the Filipino people, ‘yong gustong maniwala doon sa mga oposisyon pati ‘yong mga nagpo-porma, eh ‘di doon kayo. (Kung) Maniwala kayo sa amin, eh ‘di dito kayo. But hindi ‘yan (c0rruption allegations) totoo. I take exception to itong statement that they were able to prevent c0rruption or an overpriced because of their v!gilance. No, far from it, actually. You’re just muddling, you muddled up, ginugulo lang ninyo (you’re messing it up),” said the president.
