'We have failed Edsa. Di Tayo Handa sa Politikong Makapal ang Mukha!' - Paredes

Recently, the EDSA Anniversary was commemorated, and OPM Artist Jim Paredes could not help but express his frustrat!on with the outcome of the rev0lution.

According to the singer, the people failed EDSA. That Filipinos are not ready from the sham3less face of the government.

“Ganun din sa atin, we have to take a look at this in sweeps of decades but at the same time, it is a North Star. It is a reminder of what we really wanted as a people. We had that one shining national consciousness that wanted it. But we being Filipinos, medyo kalma tayo, trying to look for the middle ground, we were not prepared sa kakapalan ng mga mukha ng mga politiko natin,” said Paredes.

 

The singer added that the spirit of EDSA must be maintained through the millennials because they are the ones who have the power to change the "status quo". “EDSA is a continuing thing. As I’ve said, it’s a North Star. The North Star does not disappear. We just have to keep following it. or else we go from one issue to another, just stru*ggling and stru*ggling. Wala tayong end goal. Katotohanan, kalayaan, katarungan, that is our end goal” added Paredes.

Jim Paredes is one of President Duterte's well - known critics. In 2019, Paredes was involved in a scan*dal after his private video spread in the social media where he was playing the private part of his body.
