
Lacson also wants to emphasized that the case of c0v1d has increased in the Philippines because there seems to be no leader. “The virus has gone berserk. While it is on ‘at-will’ mode, we are like, on autopilot. We can’t feel some is in charge. Sobrang malas!” said Lacson.

According to the WHO representative, the case is not increasing in the Philippines due to the incompetence of the Philippine government. The increase in cases is not only happening in the Philippines, but all over the world.

“So, what will be more accurate is to look at the inc!dence rates or the number of cases per 100,000 or 1 million population, this would be going to point where the Philippines actually is. But again, there are multiple factors that affect the transmission in a country because countries are different from each other. I would want to reiterate the fact that the Philippines is not unique in seeing an increase, and this increase is not attributed in any way to incompetence. And I would also like to highlight that we are even seeing this increasing trend even in countries that are doing an extensive vaccination. So all of these measures have contributed in varying degrees in different countries to the increase of cases we are seeing,” according to Dr. Abeyasinghe.
