In the said statement, Pacquiao said that he is saddened because some members of the party still prioritize politics instead of just taking care of the spreading d1sease in the Philippines.
“Nakakalungkot na nakapasok na ang Delta variant sa Pilipinas at kapag hindi maagapan, marami ang maaaring mahawa. Ito dapat ang prioridad ng ating gobyerno,” according to Pacquiao. “Kung sa tingin nila Cusi at iba pa na mas importante ang politika sa ngayon, bahala na sila. Sa huli, isa lang naman ang tanong na dapat sagutin. Sino ba ang sasamahan ng taong bayan?” he added.
It will be recalled that last Saturday, July 17, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, Pacquiao's f1erce rival in the said party, was elected as the new President of PDP-Laban. They also replaced all the officials of the said party.
President Rodrigo Duterte himself, the party chairman, presided over the said meeting. He said he was wondering why Pacquiao became the acting president of the party through Sen. Koko Pimentel.
“I do not know what prompted him to just push Pacquiao there as the acting president. You cannot push someone as an acting president, you have to elect,” said Duterte.
The tr0uble in the party started when Pacquiao suddenly became cr1tical of the government. Before leaving the Philippines, he presented evidence of alleged c0rruption in the current administration.
