Pacquiao/University of Makati should explain how he got his BS degree — Former Ambassador

Share:

Senator Manny Pacquiao's graduation from Political Science course is now being discussed on social media. Usually the same college course is completed in 4 years and up. But according to news reports, it appears that Pacquiao only completed the course in 3 months.

On his social media account, Former Ambassador Bobi Tiglao spoke about the issue. According to Tiglao, Pacquiao needs to explain how this happened.

Read his post below:

“Pacquiao/UMak should explain how he got his BS degree. Senator Pacquiao and the University of Makati should disclose the full details (assessment report, mainly) how he got a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Makati in just three months. What I know of such degrees being given is after the board of the university concludes that an applicant’s work could be substituted for the subjects of the degree he is applying for.

For example, a mayor certainly can claim his work as mayor can substitute for units in a political science degree. I can’t imagine how Pacquiao can claim he deserves a political science degree because of his years as a boxer. The most Pacquiao could have gotten from an academic institution would be an honoris causa or honorary degree, maybe in physical education, or sports science.

If Pacquiao can’t explain how he got this degree, or if it was really fr@udulent, he would be committing some cr1me (falsification of public records or br1bery of public officials, ie. the University of Makati officials). If that university can’t explain why it gave Pacquiao that degree, the Commission on Higher Education should close it down, as it has violated that most important prerequisite for a university, which is to award degrees only according to its regulation.s”
