In every f1ght of the Pambansang Kamao Senator Manny Pacquiao, his friend Narvacan Mayor Chavit Singson is always there to witness the event. But now, Singson was not with Pacquiao in his f1ght with Yordenis Ugas on August 22 held in America.
According to the website ‘Politiko’, Pacquiao was told by his advisers that they would not allow Singson to get near to the Pambansang Kamao. The advisers of Pacquiao believe that the presence of Singson as an influential person in the Ilocos region will not be a good idea.
It will be recalled that the relationship between Pacquiao and Singson also suddenly soured due to the issue of the tobacco tax which is one of the products of Ilocos.
“Kinausap niya ako sa tobacco tax increase, huwag ko daw ituloy, pero sabi ko pasensya ka na, bestfriend kita pero hindi kita mapagbibigyan. Hindi naman basic commodities ang tobacco, ayaw ko nang magmahal pa ang presyo ng bigas at pagkain, dito na lang tayo magtaas (sa tobacco) bisyo naman ito,” the senator proudly said in an interview.
Singson was not happy with what his friend Pacquiao said so he slamm3d the boxing senator in a radio interview. “Maling mali siya diyan, hindi siya dapat pumapasok sa isyu na hindi niya alam. Siyam na beses na niyang itinaas ang buwis sa tobacco. Anything na sobra ay masama. Hindi niya alam balansehin,” explained Singson.
“Mag aral ka muna bago ka pumasok sa isyu! Dahil dyan maliwanag suportado ko parin siya sa boxing, pero sa pulitika mag-aral muna siya.” he added.
