In the last few days, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has been criticizing in the issue of face shield. According to the mayor, this is just a burden on people's pockets. For Isko, medicine should be bought instead of plastic.

Wala naman science (dito),” said Mayor Isko.

But Isko's remarks seem to have been sl@mmed by the statement of the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe. It is also said that it will give a wrong move to the public when the wearing of face shields is stopped.

“WHO has mentioned that [a face shield] is primarily meant for healthcare workers in facilities where aerosol-generating procedures are happening. But we have as a country decided, you as have as a country decided that face shields should be worn. So we shouldn’t change that position now when the country is experiencing the highest number of cases. Let us be very clear that we need to strengthen whatever we are doing now, to strengthen the response. We can look at that once we get the situation that is currently prevailing under control,” explained Abeyasinghe.
