In a post on October 7, Dr. Jerome Basang slammed Robredo because for him, the pink ribbon is a symbol of ‘Breast Cancer Awcious’ which should not be used for politics.
According to the doctor, Robredo seems to be insulting those who have had breast c@ncer.

The doctor reiterated his message and said that it should not be used by any political party or made a symbol of “frailties of a woman”.

It will be recalled that Robredo's camp has already clarified that it is not yet final whether the opposition's campaign color will be pink. “Pink was adopted from the volunteers, and as a color of pr0test and change. It is simply the color for the launch. Campaign colors will still be finalized,” clarification by Robredo spokesman Barry Gutierrez.
Read the reaction from the netizens on Dr. Jerome Basang's comment to Vice President Leni Robredo wearing ‘pink ribbon’:
Milagros Borres Basang: You're right Dong. Don't waste your time listening or reading their negative comments because they are overshadowed by the so many readers who understand the reason and purpose of your post, patent is not the issue, but it is the universal meaning that the "pink ribbon" stands for, it is the one that matters, and only those c@ncer patients, c@ncer survivors, doctors, breast c@ncer families, and other breast c@ncer advocates could fully understand your post without any mental reservations whatsoever. Others take it as a negative post because of their political affiliations, they're just out of order and very defensive, you know what son, I shed tears reading your post because every detail after I was diagnosed to have breast c@ncer came back in my mind, I have seen in you and in your sister the feeling of fear of losing a mother, but I thank God for He only gave me a burden that was light and with the doctors who were used by God as instrument, I'm now a breast c@ncer survivor.. I survived.. and I thank the Lord for his grace. So for those h@ters, this I would say: Please don't read only the lines but read between or beyond the lines. If you're in our shoes maybe that would be the time that you will understand. I have not read your (h@ters) comments because my son hide it all from me maybe for some reasons, so let' peace govern our being, don't allow h@te engulf your heart. Although everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, we agree or disagree but let's not forget that no one is invulnerable.
