Journalist and Senatorial Aspirant Raffy Tulfo is once again facing another issue. Now, his alleged legal wife, Julieta Licup Pearson, is disqualifying him because Tulfo did not put in his filed certificate of candidacy (COC) that he was actually married. What was placed in the COC of Tulfo, is his current wife, ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Jocelyn Pua Tulfo.
In the Rappler report, the complainant states that Tulfo married her in Tarlac on October 25, 1982.
“The two statements indicated by the respondent in his certificate of candidacy are both false and the respondent is fully aware of these facts. JOCELYN PUA TULFO IS NOT HIS LEGAL WIFE,” according to the complaint.
It will be recalled that some photos of Raffy Tulfo with his daughter had already spread on social media. In 2019, Pearson also filed a bigamy case against Tulfo.
“Bigamy happens if you enter into another marriage with another person while your first marriage is still subsisting without acquiring a judicial declaration declaring the said first marriage null and void or through annulment,” according to Pearson's attorney Atty. Lifrendo Gonzales. “In this case, there was no annulment, there was no nullity of marriage. So at the time that Mr. Raffy Tulfo entered into a second marriage, his first marriage is still subsisting.” he added.
It will be recalled that Tulfo admitted that he did have a child from another woman and said that her mother was only chasing him for money.
“Noong ako po ay isa pa lang struggling broadcaster o naghihikahos na mamamahayag, maraming taon nang nakararaan, I reached out to my daughter with her, at nagkita po kami ng aking anak sa kanya at ako po’y nagbigay ng tulong pinansiyal at mga regalo,” Tulfo's story on his radio program in 2019.
“She’s already married to a foreigner and she’s asking 100 million pesos or else gigibain daw niya ang buhay ko,” he continued.
So far Tulfo, who is now leading the surveys has not yet responded on the issue.
