Bong Go announces withdrawal from presidential race

Share:

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go officially announced the withdrawal from his candidacy for the presidency. This comes after a few days of him showing signs about the alleged timing of his run for the top government position.

“In the past few days, I realized that my heart and my mind are contradicting my whole action. Talagang nagre-resist ang aking katawan, puso at isipan. Tao lang po ako, nasasaktan at napapagod din,” said Go. “Yun po ang mga rason ko, that’s why I’m withdrawing from the race,” he added. “Having said this, I leave my fate to God and to the Filipino people as I bow to do my best to serve selflessly and tirelessly. I’m ready to make my supreme sacrifice for the sake of our country and for the sake of unity,” he continued.

Go would have been the official candidate of the Duterte administration. “Kailangan ko na pong magdesisyon. Ayoko na po itong patagalin pa,” said Go during the interview with him. “Kailangan ko pong magpakatotoo para sa ating mga kababayan. Mahal ko po kayo, maraming salamat po inyong suporta.” he ended.

Go said that he will prioritize his job to help his countrymen. He also said that his family was not in favor of him running for the presidency.

Tomorrow, it is possible that Go will go to the Commission on Elections to file his withdrawal from the candidacy.

Malacañang has not yet made a statement on Go's plan. It will be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte urged Go to run for the presidency.
