“After my speech onstage, a lot of people came up to have their pictures taken. Biglang may kumuha sa kamay ko at may nilagay. Tinanong ko yung babae kung ano yun. Sabi niya, ‘pinapabigay po ng anak ko. Baon niya po yan sa school pero binilin niya sa akin na ibigay sayo kasi gusto niyang makatulong,’” according to Robredo.
“Dahil siksikan, nakita ko kung ano yung binigay niya nung nakasakay na ako sa sasakyan. Crumpled na dalawang P100 bills! Sobrang nakaka touch, di ba?” said the presidential candidate.
Robredo said she is trying to find out the name of the person who gave her P200 to thank him personally. “Hindi ko nakuha pangalan ng nagbigay. So kung mabasa niyo po ito, pa comment po dito para makapagpasalamat ako ng maayos,” she added.
Robredo is now the official candidate of the opposition who will try to d3feat the candidate of the current administration. Last October, Robredo admitted that they now lack the machinery for the campaign. She said it was different in 2016 when they had machinery, especially since their party was still in charge. But she believes people who support her candidacy will take her.
“We know how hard it is not having the machinery right now, unlike in 2016. We don’t have the resources, which is direly needed in a campaign, because we were unprepared,” said Robredo.
