In his speech on November 12, Moreno blamed the Marcos family for their luxurious lifestyle back then. Moreno also asked where the former senator was when people needed him. “Nanay ko walang 3,000 shoes, ang tatay ko walang ginto. Wala silang maikwekwento dahil wala silang kwenta. Because ang dapat niyong tanungin, ‘Where were you when we needed you most?” said Isko. “Hindi ito my father did. what did you do? Where were you?” he added.
Although Moreno did not name who he was targ3ting, but many people believe that the Marcoses are being addressed by the mayor.
The shoe collections of former First Lady Imelda Marcos are in the Guinness World Records while there is also a talk of gold allegedly owned by former President Ferdinand Marcos.
Moreno grew up in a poor community and experienced life during the Marcos administration. The former senator has not yet to respond the mayor's allegations against his family.
It will be recalled that Moreno said before that he admired what former President Marcos had done but he clarified that he also did things that are not likeable. “Bakit ko ipagkakait sa sarili ko na kumopya sa mga ginawa ng iba’t ibang uri ng tao sa iba’t ibang panahon? People make mistakes. That doesn’t mean kokopyahin mo yung buo. Hindi ba magandang kumopya ng maganda lang?” said Mayor Isko back then.
