Narvacan Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson gave a message for his close friend Sen. Manny Pacquiao who will run for the presidency in 2022.

In an interview with Inquirer.net, Singson said this is not yet the right time for Pacquiao to run for the highest position in the government. According to him, the president needs to be a highly educated if he lacks experience in public service. “Hindi pa siguro panahon ni Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Unang-una hindi siya qualified. Ang presidente kasi you have to be well educated if not well experienced,” said Singson.

 

He also reminded Pacquiao that he could not get everything he wanted. “You cannot have everything in your life,” continued Singson “Boxer ka, doon ka nalang as a boxer,” He also said that the money Pacquiao distributes to the people will not reach nowhere. “Naawa ako namimigay ng pera wala naman marating, wala namang siyang naipundar na negosyo, mauubos lang ang pera niya,” shared the mayor.

He said the whole Philippines will only be ashamed from its neighboring countries if the people choose the eight-division boxing world champion to lead our country. “Hindi puwedeng i-elect mo yung presidente na mapapahiya tayo dahil yan ang mukha nating Pilipino,” said the veteran politician.

 

He advised his friend, to first get an enough experienced as a senator before thinking of running for the top position in the country.

In the said interview, Singson also shared his support for Bongbong Marcos and Inday Sara Duterte. The mayor believes the two are capable enough to lead the country unlike Pacquiao.

 

It will be recalled that Singson's relationship with Pacquiao was strained due to the tobacco tax issue. “Mag aral ka muna bago ka pumasok sa isyu! Dahil dyan maliwanag suportado ko parin siya sa boxing, pero sa pulitika mag-aral muna siya.” message then by Singson.
