Mga senador na kontra sa NTF-ELCAC, Hinamon ni Sen. Bato Dela Rosa: “Sumama sila sakin sa bundok”

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa challenged his colleagues in the senate who continue to opp0se and want to cut the budget of the National Task Force to End Local C0mmunist Arm3d C0nflict (NTF-ELCAC) for barangay development programs.

In an interview with DZMM, Dela Rosa said that whenever there is time, he climbs in the mountains to check the condition of the remote barangays that have received assistance from NTF-ELCAC.

“Hindi naman gano’n kabilis ‘yan gumawa ng project at kung gusto nila talaga ng concrete, verifiable na accomplishment ng [NTF-] ELCAC, samahan nila ako. Punta tayo doon sa kabundukan kung saan nando’n ‘yung mga Barangay Development Projects para ma-appreciate nila,” said Dela Rosa. “Ako, sasabihin ko sa’yo, every Senate break, sumasama po ako sa mga pulis at sundalo doon na nagmo-motor paakyat sa kabundukan na hindi na naa-access ng gobyerno at nakikita ko ‘yung programa ng NTF-ELCAC. Magtanong nalang kayo doon sa mga cleared barangays kung anong masasabi nila, kung gusto niyo ng concrete accomplishment,” he added.

He also said that his colleagues in the senate don't know the real situation in the mountains and don't have the experience to f1ght with the NpAs. This way, Bato challenged his fellow senators to come and join with him to climb in the mountain for them to find out the problem of those who are living there.

 

“Ito kasing mga kasamahan ko ay, pasensya na po, nandito lang sa Metro Manila, hindi sila umaakyat doon sa bundok. ‘Yung aking na-experience, hindi nila na- experience, ‘yung akyatan sa bundok, nakipag-giyera sa NpA. Kaya hindi nila alam kung gaano kabigat ang problema sa insurgency doon sa kabundukan. Puntahan natin ‘yung mga projects doon sa kabarangayan para makita nila, may mga patubig, may mga pa-ilaw, may mga pakalsada, may mga pangkalusugan,” said Dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa also urged government officials to show their support in the f1ght against the c0mmunists. The senator has been f1ghting against the npa r3bels ever since, which can also be seen in a documentary video:

 

It will be recalled that the discussion about the said agency heated up that Dela Rosa called his fellow senators a “bw1sit”. But according to one of the NTF-ELCAC questioners Sen. Franklin Drilon, is “caring for the people” what they are doing and not “politicking.
