Binigay na ng NTC sa kumpanya ni Villar ang Channel 2 at frequency na dating pagmamay-ari ng Abscbn

The report about the acquisition of former Senate President Manny Villar's company on the ABS-CBN channel 2 frequency was viral today on social media.

According to the Billionaire's report, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has given Villar's company Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc Channel 2 and 16 frequencies previously owned by ABS-CBN.

“The Commission hereby grants Advanced Media System Inc, a provisional authority to install, operate and maintain a Digital TV (TV) broadcasting system in Metro Manila/Mega Manila using Channel 16 (482-488 MHz) with digital ERP of 10 kW for 18 months,” according to the order of the NTC.

Villar's company will also have a test broadcast using channel 2. “This temporary permit to test broadcast is effective from 06 January 2022 until Analog Shut Off (ASO) unless sooner revoked or canceled. It is understood that the operation of the subject radio station shall be done in accordance with the existing radio laws and regulations,” added the NTC.

 

It will be recalled that the Duterte administration gave Villar's media company a 25-year franchise. Meanwhile, in 2020, Abscbn failed to get a new franchise due to alleged vi0lations.

So far, Abscbn has not made a statement about this issue. Villar also did not comment on the acquisition of Kapamilya Network frequencies.
