In the said interview, Davila asked Dela Rosa if the loss of Abscbn franchise really had a "chilling effect" on press freedom. Here, Dela Rosa raised his voice and said that it does not mean that because Abscbn has been shut down, there is no more press freedom practiced in the Philippines.
“Wow, paano mo masabing chilling effect? Bakit sinara ba pati GMA, sinara ba pati TV5? Hindi naman. Kayo lang naman, ABS-CBN lang naman ang hindi binigyan ng prangkisa ng Congress because of some issues,” said Dela Rosa.
He also said that press freedom has nothing to do with the congressional cancellation of the Abscbn franchise which allegedly faces various issues. So is there a suppression of press freedom? Wow, ganun pala ang tingin nyo sa press freedom.” he added.
Dela Rosa apologized for raising her voice while answering Davila.
