It will be recalled that Guanzon is one of the litigants today in the disqualification c@ses facing presidential aspirant and former senator Bongbong Marcos.
In her tweet, Guanzon l@Wmbasted crit1cs of her english and called them ‘tr0lls’. She even thr3atened that the boss of those who crit1cized her might cry if she will opposed them. “Our decision isn’t out yet an already some hound dogs are out. Checking my level of English? Seriously, do they have a Ph.D in English? Don’t dare me. Baka patulan ko kayo iiyak ang amo nyo.” said Guanzon.
According to Jamora, Guanzon used to call those who did not graduate from the University of the Philippines and Ateneo Law School ‘shunga’.
"Several months ago, Commissioner Guanzon tweets riled non-UP/Ateneo graduates. She called them Shunga and seemed to have emphasized her superior level of English. My curiosity level rose, so COMELEC's Preliminary Hearing on Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. Disqualification Case was perfect for me to review. And so, here it is, my reaction video." said netizen Jamora.
Some netizens did not like what Guanzon said, read some of their reaction:
Joan Ignacio: The commissioner was just being someone she warned people not to be lousy in English. Okay maybe not lousy, but awkward. She tried hard to sound like a judge, and she failed, epically. She is afterall, still just a lawyer/POLITICIAN who happens to be a commissioner who, in this portion of the proceedings, looked like she had no idea about the proper language and the manner of speaking to use in her sala. In fact, she sounded more like my next door neighbor berating her muchacha. At least my neighbor tried to sound professional about it.
Roxy Ramses: I knew it from the start, Guanzon has very poor English communication skills, she's trying hard to be feisty pero hanggang trying hard lang. There will be no more Miriam Defensor Santiago in PH politics. Some filosofos would argue, hindi sukatan ang English skills sa intelligence, pero susme if you're in a high position of authority, being articulate in English suggests palabasa ka ng mga legal journals, you read a lot of legal cases, position papers, even watch CNN's intelligent discussion about politics or maybe watch and be inspired by Oprah! Notice Leni, Trillanes, Kiko Pangilinan when speaking in English paused a lot, that means they're translating first on their mind what they will be saying
